SOPA/PIPA

January 18th, 2012 by Maxx I am sure that all of you by now have heard about the proposed laws in the United States, SOPA and PIPA.

We on NMRiH, our team and testers and our entire community, would all be adversely affected by the passage of the bills Stop Online Piracy Act (House Resolution 3261) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (Senate Bill 968). Not only would passage and adoption of either or both of these bills in to law hurt us here working on NMRiH, but they would be absolutely detrimental to the health and well-being of the free, open, and unrestricted internet we all know and enjoy today.

We here on NMRiH fully support the blackouts and protests being conducted by Wikipedia, Reddit, and many other sites.

Even if you are not an American citizen (I fall in to this category myself), we can still take action to demonstrate the general public's widespread opposition to both of these bills.

As project manager for No More Room in Hell, and as your Canadian super-bro, I encourage all of you to let your State Department/Foreign Ministry know that you oppose SOPA/PIPA in the United States, and let your local government representatives know that you oppose any similar bill where you live!
